I’m going through that “should I or shouldn’t I” phase we Moms know so well. My eldest daughter wanted to be Katy Parry for Halloween. Although I like some of her music I just long for the days that my little girl wants to listen to Disney music. It doesn’t matter how much I push certain tunes she hears music at school that she likes and she wants more of it! We ended up piecing together a fun “rock and roll” style costume. Thankfully she is a tough little girl who really doesn’t want to look “girly”. I’ve chosen to look at the situation as a learning opportunity. We talked about what is appropriate to wear in public and the “words” in some of Katy’s music that are in appropriate. Being a parent can be so hard but I am a believer in letting my kids do what they want to do and get it out of their system. If I had forbidden the costume, she would have wanted it even more. Thank goodness I didn’t have to worry about my other two this year… no controversy over a mermaid and a little tiger.
