Self-Care 101: The Basics of Caring for Yourself as a Busy Mom:

Updated: Nov 16, 2024

Self Care

I have a friend who just had a baby girl. Little Piper is adorable and I am so excited to see her in person. It is her second baby and with a toddler at home as well, I know she is exhausted. Feels like yesterday I was chasing around 3 kids. I can't say it's easy now with teenagers but every stage of motherhood has challenges. As a busy mom, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and neglect your own well-being. But self-care is an important aspect of being a healthy, happy mother. Here are a few basic tips to help you get started on your self-care journey:

do you practice self-care?

  • Yes - I do!

  • Never Enough Time

  • What is that?

1.

Make time for yourself. It may seem impossible, but it's important to set aside some time each day to do something that brings you joy. This could be reading a book, taking a walk, or just taking a few deep breaths.

  1. Practice good self-care habits. This includes getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, and exercising regularly. These habits will help you feel more energized and better able to handle the demands of motherhood.

  2. Find a support system. Being a mom can be isolating at times, so it's important to have a support system of friends and family to talk to and lean on.

  3. Take breaks. It's okay to take a break from your responsibilities every once in a while. Whether it's hiring a babysitter for a few hours or just taking a bubble bath, taking breaks can help you recharge and come back to your responsibilities with a fresh perspective.

  4. Seek help when needed. If you're feeling overwhelmed, don't be afraid to seek help. This could be in the form of therapy, a support group, or just talking to a trusted friend or family member.

Remember, self-care is not selfish. It's an important part of being a healthy, happy mom. By taking care of yourself, you'll be better able to take care of your family. So, don't forget to give yourself the love and care that you deserve.
